kapilIt is said that change is the spice of life, and that’s the rule that Star Plus’ ‘Raja Ki Ayegi Baraat’ seems to be following to add spice to the show.

The ongoing buzz indicates that the show might take a leap after the current track, of Ira (Rishika Mihani) the Ghost, ends.

A source close to the show informs TellyCafe that there is, indeed, going to be a generation leap in the show, which will bring in fresh faces as well as new tracks in the long running serial. ‘Raja Ki Ayegi Baraat’ is already over 550 episodes and still going strong among its loyal audiences. The debate, therefore, is whether the generation leap is being brought in to replace the current male and female leads or whether it is the demand of the upcoming track.

Says the source, “Yes, it seems Kapil Nirmal and Anjali Abrol, who essay the roles of Yudi and Rani, respectively, will be bidding adieu to the show, but no, they are not being replaced. As they have already had a child in the recent track, their daughter, Sandhya, will now be grown up and she will take the story further. Casting for the grown up Sandhya is going on as we speak.”

As we prod further on the what the new track would be about, the source coyly reveals, “‘Raja Ki Ayegi Baraat’ has always been a very fantasy based show. You can be assured that the new track will also be another wonderful fairytale, just like Rani’s Cinderella story in the beginning. Although, Sandhya’s story will not be exactly like Cinderella, the title of the show is very apt for her track. The track is extremely interesting and we’re sure audiences will love it as it is very different from whatever we have seen before. Can’t say anymore, you just have to wait and watch!”

Well, that’s that for knowing what’s going to happen next in the show. But the questions still remain… With Yu-Ra out of the show, will fans still find ‘Raja Ki Ayegi Baraat’ appealing? Is this another gimmick wherein they will both end up coming back at some point, as is often the case in television? Will Anjali and Kapil be playing the next generation as Yudi and Rani’s kids?

We tried hard to reach Kapil Nirmal and Anjali Abrol but they both remained unavailable for the comment. As for all our questions, only time will tell.
