For all Indian Idols fan, its time to stick to the television sets from 19th September (Fri-Sat-9PM) as Sony Entertainment Channel brings yet another season of Indian Idol and it promises to be much more exciting. India Idol 4 will replace Dus Ka Dum (game based show hosted by Salman Khan), which is coming to its finale this week (read more…)
While Indian Idol Season 4 retains its Veteran Judge Annu Malik (Malek – new Numerology name) and Javed Akhtar, we will see new faces in form of Sonali Bendre and Kailash Kher, who will replace Alisha Chinoy and Udit Narayan. Meiyang Chang and Deepali Kishore will be hosting the audition phase. Meiyang and Deepali were contestants during the last season. Hussian will be seen during the gala events. Mini Mathur won’t be seen for a while, as she is pregnant. Hopefully later, as this show will continue until February 2009.
On the voting rights, Annu Malek gets the exclusive voting rights in case of deadlock between the judges. He justifies that extra privilege as he is a music director. Sonali Bendre seems to be a right replacement on behalf of Alisha as she has spend more time in the film industry and has danced on many good music numbers. Javed Akhtar claims that she will definitely have better understanding of music and will pick the right one.
Kailash Kher, sufi singer and have also given many big numbers in leading bollywood movies says that the contestant should accept the format and should not blame of receiving less votes or so down the line. Also the winner should not get carried away by thinking that they have arrived to their destination while it’s just the beginning.
On that note just wondering what happened to last three winners at Indian Idols. Have seen Abhijeet Sawant, Indian idol season 1 winner in some shows, haven’t heard of Sandeep Acharaya and Prashant Tamang winners of Season 2 and 3 respectively! I guess they lacked screen presence and that’s why while Abhijeet, Rahul Vaidya (top 3 in Season 1) seems to get the limelight both in the television and outdoor shows, little is heard about the other two. Also we haven’t seen a girl winning the title and Sonali hope she could get a girl winner this time! Hopefully Sonali and the other panel of judges will look for the complete package and get someone who really is an Indian Idol.

Voting has not started now, that will start after the theatre round. We will update those details here very soon.
Online voting will be there and there will be rules for votes in there as well. Will keep posted about them very soon.
The latest I heard was that votings start from top 30 itself!! Please confirm the same.I also want to know whether overseas voting is allowed. One more point: Is there any weightage for online voting??
I personally feel there should be more weightage to the markings from the judges than depend purely on votes.
Please answer all the above queries and oblige
Indian Idol 4 started with a bang on Bongs. Kolkata give a good start to the Indian Idol but what was funny is Hussian’s entry which suprised everyone. Javed Akhtar and Sonali bendre could not identify him. Hussian acted as A J Ken (Ajay Ken) and claimed to be from Mexico. So watch out today how A J ken makes Dahi out of the judges
I think prashant winner of II3 is busy in his world tour, hope to see his performance once in indian idol 4
