The couples need not be a girl and a boy and may be a same-sex couples as well. The choreography, chemistry, coordination and rhythm is what remains to be seen between each couple as they battle it out against other couples and try to impress the judges.

As you may know, NRIs can watch live Indian TV Channels online broadcast over Internet IPTV streaming 24×7 to their Television Sets and Computers over Broadband – click here to check out the free trial offer from our affiliate.

The show will be hosted by Jay Bhanushali – the funny man and either Soumya Tandon will be the co-host or who knows there might even be a new cohost. DID Doubles has roped in the stunt expert from Africa Hari Das to train the participants in acrobatics and popular Salsa and Ballroom teacher Lourd Vijay will conduct workshops with them. Superstar Mithun Chakraborty will also be present on the show as the ‘Grand Master’ and will have the ultimate authority.

The show which will have 50 couples to begin with (they have been chosen after extensive auditions from Mumbai, Delhi and Kolkata) will be narrowed down to 12 couples after the 4-5 episodes. In the later stages of the event, the audience shall choose the winning couple through SMS. The three judges for the event are Geeta Kapoor, Rajeev Surti (who has choreographed even for a few films) and Marzi Pestonji (an ex student of dancing guru Shaimak Davar) who has also performed at prestigious events like the Commonwealth Games, IIFA Awards, Filmfare awards and also choreographed for films. Therefore with all known choreographers to judge the show, we can expect the performers to come up with innovative steps and styles to impress the judges.

Dance India Dance Doubles goes on air from Dec 31st 2010 and should go on for about 4 months.

A press meet was held in Kolkata at the Park on 23rd Dec, 2010 where Marzi Pestonji and a couple, Saurav Bengani and Vivek Jaiswal (who are one of the 10 couples having qualified from Kolkata from the 50 couples to have been shortlisted) were present in Kolkata and the duo even showed us a few of their moves!
