Indian wrestler Sushil Kumar won a Bronze medal at Beijing Olympics in the 66-Kg free style wrestling event. Sushil Kumar beat Kazakhistan’s Leonid Spiridonov in a play-off bout for the Bronze medal.

Is this the birth of Olympics culture in India? Never before we have achieved so many laurels in other games apart from cricket. Even though some of these achievements might have not been converted into medals, we see a future of India at the Olympics. Also, India won 2 medals after a gap of 56 years. In 1952 Helsinki Olympics, India won a Gold medal in Men’s Hockey and Khashaba Jadav won bronze medal in Wrestling, Men’s Freestyle Bantamweight.

Delight at the historic feat, Indian wrestling team’s coach Naresh Kumar said, “We are breathless with this achievement. We are delighted.” This is India’s second medal at the Beijing Olympics. The first was won by Abhinav Bindra in the shooting event.

All eyes are now on Jitender Kumar and Vijendra Kumar who have their boxing event later today. Best wishes to them and congratulations to Sushil Kumar. You have made India Proud.
