Saina Nehwal crashes out of Women’s Single Badminton Event at Beijing Olympics not before putting a brave fight against Indonesian Maria Yulianti in a 3 set game. The final score were 26-28, 21-14 and 21-15. While the first set went into long marathon game, the second game was easy for Yulianti. In the decider, Saina was ahead 11-3, before they changed sides and that’s where the luck went dry. From there, Yulianti picked up continuous 16 points to which Saina was able to take only 1 point. With 19-12 in favor of Yulianti, it was difficult for Saina to come up. It was the battle of nerves and Yulianti kept calm and ultimately came victorious.
However, we salute Saina’s effort as this was the first time any Indian women have reached to the Quarters of Women’s badminton event at Olympics. You have already done us proud Saina. We should celebrate Saina effort almost as big as we did for Abhinav Bindra, so that she feels motivated and can do much better in future games. We wish you all luck for next tournaments and hopefully you will earn us Gold in the 2012 London Olympics. Cheers!
What we have to see is the brave fight she put and we feel proud of what Saina has done for India. She has given new hope outside cricket, which can bring glory to India. I am sure many other badminton players will see that, will also see how we, Indians, have supported and prayed for her and will start working hard to come up in big numbers and bring more medals for India. I am sure next olympics we will see many more stars like Abhinav and Saina. Good Job Saina, we are proud of you.
Its great to see atleast finding her to be reaching quarters.. I think we should be proud of the fact that she is competing for the first time at Olympics!
Nope, this is the first time someone has reached thus far, so our praises and best wishes are for Saina. And she is just 18, I m sure in next 2 years she will do great in 2010 Commonwealth Games and even better in 2010 London Olympics.
Saina deserves all praise from each one of us. Entering QF is no small task.
Does anyone know if any Indian had earlier reached QF or gone ahead of QF in Olympics?
