China stunned the world by giving one of the best Olympics opening ceremony, which was a complete blend of technology, power and culture. Amidst all controversies with regard to Human rights, Pollution problems, Tibetan issue, the opening ceremony was nothing less than a miracle. It was a treat to watch every act that was very meticulously performed. Be it the unfolding of the 4000 year old history or torch lifting by Li Ning, the first Olympic gold recipient or Li Ning making his way to the torch in traditional Chinese style, it was all beyond imagination and excellent work by the technician behind this ceremony.

Percussionists hit Fou drums at the start of the opening ceremony. The other marked events where the performance on the large Globe by Sarah Brightman and Liu Huan and gravity defying dancers dancing around it, again typical Chinese tradition. The ‘Silk Road’ performance illustrated one period of China’s trading history. More than 15,000 performers showcased the nation’s past achievements. There were astronauts in the stadium that paid tribute to the Chinese Space Program as well. The Ceremony concluded with great fireworks, which were hit from many locations.

More than 80 heads of state, including American President George W. Bush, Russian President Vladimir Putin, French President Nicolas Sarkozy, Mrs Sonia Gandhi were present to witness this great event.

One world, one dream” is the official slogan of the 2008 Beijing Olympics. It is said to reflect these six values: unity, friendship, progress, harmony, participation and dreaming. It also expresses the common desire of people all over the world who strive for a common goal: a bright future for humankind.
