The 55th National Film Awards for the year 2007 were presented by the President, Smt. Pratibha Devisingh Patil in a glittering ceremony, in New Delhi on October 21, 2009.

Though the function saw majority of the awards being bagged by the South Film Industry but Bollywood, too claimed its share in the music arena.

Legendary singer Manna Dey was conferred with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award for 2007 at the event.'It's a really great feeling. Getting an award is no child's play. I have been singing for the last 60 years and with this appreciation, all my work has been paid off,' he said.

The Grand occasion 55th National Awards witnessed Sonam Kapoor, Prakash Raj, Legendary singer Manna Dey, Mahadevan, Shreya Ghoshal & many others received the National Film Awards for 2007. Well, It was a moment of daughter representing her dad and indeed a father beholding the award in honor of his son. Certainly, the occasion of 55th National Awards witnessed Sonam Kapoor and producer Yash Chopra receiving the awards as a gesture of representing their family members.
