HDIL Couture WeekHDIL Couture Week saw the fourth day of star studded grand function on 14th of October 2009. Where many famous Bollywood actors & actresses were present like, Priyanka Chopra, Preity Zinta, Kajol & many others which added glory to the event.

The main attraction in the event was Bollywood’s hottest couple, Saif & Kareena, walked the ramp for designer friend Manish Malhotra at the 4th day of HDIL Couture Week. This was the first time that a collection was specially designed for a contemporary bride and groom and for the first time the stars Saif & Kareena walked the ramp together.

Bollywood Stars at 4th day of HDIL Couture Week.

“The clothes are more textured and international in their look. The emphasis is not on embroidery or Jewellery as is the case with most wedding wear, but on glamour,” asserts Malhotra, adding, “It has a resort feel to it that has taken the west by storm and is fast catching on back home. Rather than a maang tikka, dozens of chudiyaans and other accessories, the bride and groom will be wearing there own personalities.”

Talking about Manish’s longtime muse, he says that Kareena’s attitude to fashion has always been a casual and confident, “Sure, I can carry that off.” And the simple, straightforward approach is reflected in her wardrobe that is usually no fuss and no frills. Her steady beau Saif is a perfect foil in that he too prefers style to shine.

For Malhotra, convincing Kareena was a breeze. Saif needed more persuading but eventually gave the nod because, “he liked the idea, the feel and thought the clothes suited Kareena.”The Chhota Nawab was wearing a sherwani and Kareena in a baby pink Lehenga. Malhotra is quick to add that these sherwanis, lehengas, ghagras and saris while traditional, are meant for a 21st century couple who is not afraid to experiment.
