It was the big B family event on Saturday where all the Bachchans, Amitabh, Jaya, Abhishek and Aishwarya made their presence. It was during the Bachchan Sandhya, organized by Bhartiya Vidya Bhavan to pay tribute to Late Harivansh Rai Bachchan on his 102nd birth anniversary in Mumbai Saturday, 28 November 2009.

Bachchan Family and Bhartiya Vidya Bhavan came together to launch ‘Madhushala – The House of Wine’. The book is designed in a format that contains both the original and the English translation of poems side by side, interspersed with illustrations of paintings done by Namrita Bachchan. It was more a family affair for Bachchans and all of them were noticed wearing similar kind of attires. Check out the Bachchans at launch of ‘Madhushala

Bachchans at launch of ‘Madhushala - The House of Wine’ . Paying tribute to Harivansh Rai Bachchan on his 102nd birth anniversary in Mumbai

‘It’s wonderful that my cousin Namrita has illustrated the ‘Madhushala’ and it’s wonderful to get the third generation of Bachchans to contribute,’ Abhishek said. Amitabh revealed that this book was his wife Jaya Bachchan‘s idea.’It was Jaya’s idea that if the book is compiled in a way where one page has the original poems and in the corresponding page the translation of the same, then this generation would love to read it,’ Amitabh said.

Speaking to reporters, Jaya said: ‘This is the reproduction of the book ‘The House of Wine’, which was formerly written by Marjourie Bolton on the works of Shri Harivansh Rai Bachchhan.’ Some translations have also been done by Ram Swaroop Vyas. Almost every member of the Bachchan family recited Harivansh Rai Bachchan’s select poems on the occasion. Actors Om Puri, Rahul Bose and Ashutosh Rana and screenwriter Prasoon Joshi were among others present at the function.
