Rowdy Rathore: A must watch movie
Director: Prabhu Deva
Cast: Akshay Kumar and Sonakshi Sinha
Ratings: *** (3 out of 5)
Rowdy Rathore’, a remake of the Telugu hit ‘Vikramarkudu’, marks the return of Akshay Kumar in the action genre after a hiatus.
The first half of the film ambles through an hour and a bit of mostly insignificant narrative detail, including the circumstances in which the male protagonist, a small-time Mumbai conman Shiva (Akshay Kumar), meets and falls in love with Paro (Sonakshi Sinha), a pretty girl from Patna who is in town for a wedding. It is only in the second half that the movie gets down to serious business – As per the reports.
Sonakshi fails to make any sort of mark in her second outing after a fabulous debut in ‘Dabangg’.
The reports also suggest that the premise of the film may be good, but the treatment is that of a typical South Indian pot boiler. No harm in that either, just that most of the scenes lack logic. The violence is gory and in some places cringe-worthy.
Overall, the movie has the potential to set the cash registers ringing provided it delivers what it promised – raw action.
