Starring: Hrithik Roshan, Sanjay Dutt, Priyanka Chopra, Rishi Kapoor
Rating: ****(4 Out of 5)
It’s Hrithik Roshan’s turn to wear the mask of the iconic character portrayed by Amitabh Bachchan two decades ago. Though not a money spinner then, AGNEEPATH did fetch Bachchan Sr. the National Award in the Best Actor category and is considered amongst the best films made that year . Twenty two years later, Vijay Dinanath Chauhan is brought alive by first-time director Karan Malhotra in Karan Johar’s homage to the original film, which was produced by his father Yash Johar and directed by Mukul S. Anand. It’s a colossal challenge for any actor/maker to pay tribute to a cult film, which continues to linger in our memory even after two decades.
Agneepath deals with the story of father and son relationship and revenge. In the village of Mandwa, a young boy Vijay has been taught the path of fire – Agneepath, by his principled father, but after his father has been brutally killed by the evil drug dealer Kancha Cheena , his life then shatters and he takes up a pledge of revenge from his father’s killers. Vijay takes up crime himself to become successful and finally meets with those people who killed his father. Agneepath is mainly the powerful journey of Vijay, who is on a mission.
Hrithik Roshan’s portrayal of Vijay Dennanath Chauhan, originally made famous by Amithabh Bachhan and Sanjay Dutt’s look as antagonist Kancha Cheena has already created a big amount of curiosity and hype among the Agneepath lovers. Sanajy Dutt has gone completely bald for his role as Kancha Cheena. Sanjay will be seen in this bald avatar with a big silver ring at the top of his left ear and a black outfit.
Agneepath is a much awaited film of 2012. The trade analysts predict that this movie will be able to break every box office record of 2012.
