The much awaited movie of this year ‘Kambakkht Ishq’ has recd mixed responses, though critics have labeled the movie as quite dull. Even the best stunts of Akshay Kumar, Bold Scenes of Kareena and introduction of Hollywood stars could not hold the audience tight and applease the critics. Just wondering where it went wrong – Was it too much in one movie? Or was it the same repetitive style of Akshay Kumar (Akkiness), which failed to impress? Hmmm, still have to wait for the right answer, but here is what some of the top crtics said.

Akshay plays a playboy-stuntman, who has a knack of impressing women very easily. Even Hollywood actress Denise Richards pecks his lip for a nano-second in the movie and mentions to tabloids that he’s a great kisser.
Kareena Kapoor is a super-model by night and a medical surgeon by day. She hates Akshay for reasons you may neither understand nor even care to. The first half manages to scroll through with songs and dances.Every few minutes, the alarm bell keeps ringing. She is scared that he will sue her and tries to seduce him.
Fans of the ‘Rocky’ and ‘Rambo’ star can see their hero beating up bad men to save a damsel in distress in typical Bollywood style and even say two Hindi words, title of the film ‘Kambakkht Ishq’.
“I was shocked to see both the lead pair mouthing foul words and cheap, crude dialogues throughout in the name of entertainment,” said Namrata, collegian from suburban Mumbai.

On the whole, Kambakkht Ishqwill strike a chord with the youth and those who relish zany and madcap entertainers. The first half is tremendous, while the second half takes a dip, with the film picking up towards the climax.
At the box-office, the film will see an earth-shattering opening weekend and a historic Week 1. It remains to be seen how this film fares in its second weekend/week, given the massive number of screens it has opened globally [2,000-plus]. However, the timing is most appropriate [the viewer is thirsting for a biggie] and the hype is tremendous, which should prove very advantageous for the film.

Live it up, Akshay, but you really need to change your schtick. You might be the fresh prince, one who’s brought Sikh regality front and centre with a bass thump, but unless you start showing some smarts, you ain’t legend.

However, majority of the audience who watched the film on the first day were unhappy that the movie was not worth their money.
