Frieda PintoThe Oscar-winner Slumdog Millionaire beauty Frieda Pinto is starring in “Miral” the Julian Schnabel’s next, who directed the Golden Globe-winning The Diving Bell And The Butterfly and drama Basquiatnew .The flick is based on the book by Palestinian-Italian writer Rula Jebreal.

Author Rula collaborated on the screenplay of her novel, which documents the true story of Hind Husseini, the woman who created the Dar Al-Tifi orphanage in Jerusalem in 1948 when the state of Israel came into existence. Palestinian actress Hiam Abbas – who starred in Oscar-nominated movie The Visitor – will play Husseini. Miral is scheduled for release in 2010.

Freida, who was a model in Mumbai before Oscar-winning British director Danny Boyle discovered her, has also been signed up to appear in Woody Allen’s next movie, to be filmed in London this summer with Josh Brolin and Sir Anthony Hopkins.
