Its difficult to digest but it appears that John Abraham’s latest role in Dostana where he strips down to his bare minimum has not only found takers among his females fans, but also has some men drooling all over, especially the gay community is going ga ga over his dare bare show. And guess what? John’s lady love Bipasha Basu doesn’t find it offensive & given the nod to go ahead.
If Bipasha doesn’t have any problem with his Gay image, we had not any qualms. “I have lots of friends who are gays and I take it as a compliment” John was overheard saying.

Karan Johar’s Dostana seems to be a Love Triangle with a Gay overtones and this one redefines the dreaded love triangle! John Abraham has also signed Karan Johar’s next movie, to be directed by Karan’s assistant Tarun Mansukhani. Initially Saif Khan was to do the role and he would have co-starred with Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai. However Saif had second thoughts of potraying the Gay character probably as bebo has certain reservations. Karan Johar says that in Dostana he has added the Gay concept as he thinks its an issue which need to be touched upon.

According to sources the plot of Dostana is – “John and Abhishek play best friends who are willing to do anything for one another. The love triangle in the film is between Abhishek-Priyanka-John. Abhishek loves Priyanka in the film. But Priyanka likes John. Abhishek and John play good friends. When John knows this, he pretends to be gay garb just for the sake of his friend. But matters complicate further on arrival of Bobby Deol who plays a real gay, as he ends up falling for our John!

Last year, Abhishek Bachchan was voted as the gay icon and now, with John playing one in ‘Dostana’ it seems that this year it will be his turn to carry forward the legacy.

What makes the promo of Dostana interesting is the only dialogue said in it by John standing next to Abhishek is – ‘Hum Gay Hain!…Yeh Mera Boyfriend Hai’ (pointing to Abhishek). Karan Johar had promised in his earlier interviews that his Dostana will feature a never before heard of a love triangle. Now we have understood what he really meant! Dostana’s slick promo also features a lot of skin display what with Priyanka Chopra in a swimsuit walking on the Miami beaches and and John Abraham too ala Baywatch!.Watch the Dostana 2008 trailer below

There has been couple of noticeable controversies surrounding gay relationship in Bollywood. Saif Khan and Shah Rukh Khan played straight characters pretending to be gay in ‘Kal Ho Na Ho’ produced by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions. The duo didn’t stop at that and even carried the act to a couple of awards functions as anchors. Much earlier, Saif Khan did Main Anari Tu Khiladi which had Akshay Kumar pairing with him. Reading between the lines, some folks in media treated the friendship between the two characters (played by Akshay Kumar and Saif Khan) as gay relationship. This led to a furore and Saif Ali Khan even assaulted Ashok Row Kavi one of the more vocal gay journalists and activist who heads a gay organisation and also is the editor of a gay magazine called Bombay Dost.

We have one thing to say to Karan Johar; Karan, if you are so sensitive about the whole gay subject why don’t you set the records straight about your sexual alignment.
