The Supreme Court on Monday November 5th 2012, quashed rape charges against filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar.

In 2009, actress Preeti Jain accused Madhur Bhandarkar of rape on the pretext of giving her a lead role in his film. Preeti alleged that she slept with Mr Bhandarkar from 1999-2004 after he promised her a role in his films and marriage.

However now the court quashed the case after Jain told the court that she is no longer interested in pursuing the case as it has been 9 years since she first lodged a case against the filmmaker.

As per the court decision director admits that “I was never demoralized by these allegations. This is a big relief and I am happy it is finally over,” he said.
