Raavan is an upcoming Bollywood Indian film being directed by Mani Ratnam and starring Abhishek Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai, Vikram, Govinda, Priyamani, Ravi Kishan, Nikhil Dwivedi will play important roles in the film.
The film’s shoot has been progressing for several months in London. The production team have also filmed portions of the film in Italy.
Though the makers try hard to guard the stories of their much-hyped films, it’s a tough task to plug all the holes to prevent a story from leaking. And now, the story of Abhi-Ash starrer ‘Raavan’, loosely based on Ramayana, is out of the closet.
If sources are to be believed, Abhishek plays a vindictive villain in the film who tries to take revenge after his sister is humiliated in public by the lead actor, Vikram , who plays the husband of Aishwarya. Like Ravana, the traumatised antagonist Abhishek enters Vikram’s household to take revenge, but in his absence Abhi kidnaps Ash.
To hide her, he takes her to a jungle where both of them eventually fall in love and herein lays the unexpected twist. The story explores the complex man-woman relationship in a subtle way.
The buzz also says that Mani Ratnam’s wife Suhasini is making a debut in the film by playing Abhishek’s battered sister. Govinda plays a character inspired from Hanuman, who helps protagonist Vikram to find out his wife. Bhojpuri star and TV actor Ravi Kissen plays Abhishek’s helping hand while newcomer Nikhil Dwivedi is a cop.
The shooting of the film is progressing at a fast pace. Just recently the whole unit finished the second leg of the long schedule in Kolkata. The film is bilingual. Its Tamil version is named ‘Ashokavanam’ where actor Prithviraj Sukumar plays the villain.
Abhishek has altered his look and is sporting a crew cut hairdo that highlights his ruggedness.
