It’s a family affair as far as the leading star and the director goes, Luck by Chance is the directorial debut of Zoya Akhtar who is the sister of Farhan Akhtar and the daughter of Javed Akhtar. And this family fare fails to disappoint as far as this movie is concerned. Luck by Chance is a recommended watch.
The film’s plot (to set things into perspective)
The film is about the journey of an actor named Vikram Jaisingh (Farhan Akhtar) who arrives in Bombay to make it big as a film star with the help of Abhimanyu (Arjun Mathur) a TV star friend, who puts him up during the initial struggle
Konkana Sen Sharma plays the role of a junior artist named Sona Mishra. The story is about the struggle about these budding actors who aspire to make it big into the world of bollywood. It’s a no-nonsense, bold look at the otherwise glamorous world of bollywood. There is a special appearance by Hrithik Roshan who plays a super-star in the movie. Both Vikram (as a hero) and Sona (as a successful TV star) eventually get to their dreams but it’s not before they are subjected to rejections, humiliation, and emotional break-up.

Luck By Chance Movie Review (www.timesofindia.com)
“The highpoint of the film are its performances. Both Farhan and Konkona are complete naturals before the camera, just as Rishi Kapoor (mainstream producer) and Dimple Kapadia (heroine’s mummy) prove that vintage never does lose its flavour, does it! The jibes are gentle; the tenor is fond, yet firm. But most importantly, the characters are completely real: feisty and flawed, even as the end is exhilarating”

Luck By Chance Movie Review (www.ndtv.com)
Mid-way through the title sequence of Zoya Akhtar’s Luck By Chance, we see an actress dressed as an angel, in a long flowing white gown and oversized wings, walk into a toilet. That single image perfectly captures Bollywood, a space of extremes where art and commerce, the sublime and the ridiculous, 70 mm fantasies and harsh realities, head-turning fame and soul-shriveling anonymity thrust and thrive against each other
The first half wobbles precariously as the script struggles to find a momentum. But thankfully the narrative flows better in the latter half and culminates in a satisfying, bittersweet end. Luck by Chance is a perceptive portrait of our dream factory.

Luck By Chance Movie Review (www.bollywoodhungama.com)
“If Zoya’s writing is superb, her execution of the written material deserves distinction marks. This may be Zoya’s directorial debut, but she treats the difficult subject like a veteran. Javed Akhtar’s dialogues are remarkable. Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy’s music is a mixed bag; the score could’ve been better. However, the choreography of the circus song is remarkable. Carlos Catalan’s cinematography captures the right moods”
On the whole, LUCK BY CHANCE is an outstanding film in all respects. A magnificent outing from the producers of ROCK ON!!, LUCK BY CHANCE is sure to prove an extremely lucky and rewarding experience at the box-office. Strongly recommended!

A serious sensible No non-sense movie.
Great movie. What a talented family.hats of to the makers.. hail to the new wave cinema. I was thinking about the combo of Farhan and Abhay with direction either by Zoya or Anurag under the banner of Excel(lent) Entertainment or Powerhouse UTV.
