Luck By Chance – Farhan Akhtar’s 2nd movie as a star after successful ‘Rock On’. Directed by sis Zoya Akhtar, Luck by Chance exposes the underbelly of bollywood.
Its opened to mixed response and some good reviews. However, the opening collections were average.

Box office verdict – Average

Raaz 2 – Emraan Hashmi and the Bhatt gang has delivered again with Raaz 2 which has some scary scenes and some crafty direction. Its Emraan’s second successive hit after Jannat. Kangana and Adhyayan Suman deliver convincing performances.

The net collection after week 1 exceeds Rs 10 crores.

Box-office verdict – Hit

Victory – Disaster for Harman Baweja, Victory is best avoided, it has proved again that anything that’s got only cricket written all over it will not sell. This movie which features some Australian cricketers as well has opened poorly at the box office. For Harman, it spells disaster as his earlier offering ‘Love Story 2050’ suffered a similar fate.

Box-office verdict: Flop

Slumdog Millionaire – What more to say about this movie, with the Oscars and Bafta Nominations and having won more awards than it can chew, Slumdog was released late in India and quite a significant target audience had already watched it online. Its raked in average revenues in India

Ghajini – Aamir Khan has now become one the most bankable stars of all time. Aamir Khan,Asin and Jiah Khan starrer has broken quite a few box office records and managed to rake in upwards of Rs 200 crores. Way to go Aamir!!!

Chandni Chowk to China – First big banner flop of 2009. Heavily marketed with some classy trailers, it appeared as if Akshay had another hit up his sleeve, unfortunately everything apart from Akshay’s acting was a disaster. This movie has collapsed at the box office.
