From pundits to marriage bureau, from internet to TV, Indian Marriages have seen great transformations as to how to find your partner. With huge internet success of matrimony sites in India like Shaadi.com and BharatMatrimony.com, there comes yet another step of showcasing the matrimony profiles on television through DTH. Bharat Matrimony, a Yahoo invested company has recently tied up with Tata Sky, DTH service provider to show case all paid profiles to more than 2 million Tatasky Subscribers.
How it works? TataSky has ‘Active’ option, which allows you to browser through various free services like quiz, learning, games, news and now they have included matrimony services. You will have the option to browse through what profiles you want to search – Brides or Grooms. Then it gives you an option to search within a Community and Sub Community before displaying limited information of the prospective match. Once you select the right search result, you can SMS the profile ID to get the full details. A participant fee of RS 10 is charged from the subscriber apart from the SMS charges, which is as per cellular service provider.
Is it safe? Bharat Matrimony claims that this service is only available to the paid members of their sites. Further the profiles are showcased to Tatasky home viewers and not applicable to public places like hotels, restaurants or shopping complexes. And only limited information like height, age, education details, location and occupation are showed and sensitive information including name, photos are not shown.
