akriti-bhatia-delhi-girlRocked by protests over the death of student Aakriti Bhatia girl due to an asthma attack in the school premises, there was wide spread protest by angry parents and students who alleged “negligence” on the part of school authorities leading to the death.

Shouting slogans and holding placards, many of the protesters, including students from other well known Delhi schools, gathered outside Modern School in south Delhi, demanding the resignation of principal Goldy Malhotra for alleged negligence.

Aakriti, a Class 12 student, had suffered an asthma attack in school Monday and died on the way to hospital. Her parents have accused the school of delaying medical attention to Aakriti.

Under pressure from angry parents and students, Modern School, Vasant Vihar, announced an internal inquiry into the death of Akkriti Bhatia, a Class XII student, on Monday.

But the big question remains – Who should be blamed for the death of  Aakriti Bhatia?

School Authorities no doubt for their careless approach? The Institutional authorities for overlooking such incident and just ordering some no-results inquiry! But don’t you think parents are to be blamed to some extent as well?

How many of times we have sent our children to school even though the child complains of problem with regard to health and other issues? How many of times we have been a silent spectator to our children complain about ragging and similar physical abuse? And with Aakriti’s case, an asthma patient, did her parents take enough care to record that problem to the school and ensure help from their end in case of an emergency?

We are not entirely blaming the parents here. But ins’t precaution better than protests and shouting as that will not bring back Aakriti? Is this death a lesson for the all the parents as well to ensure additional safety and security with regard to their children at educational institutions? Voice your concern here:

Whom do you blame for the death of Aakriti Bhatia?
