This post might dampen the spirit of lot of Indian IT aspirants wishing to fly to UK to carve out a career abroad and rake in some quick money. The Labour government in UK enlisted the help of a panel of experts to decide on the list of UK jobs which could be open to workers from outside European Union (EU).

The panel came out with its recommendations and guess what; UK can’t get enough of Chicken Tikka Masala, because skilled chefs figure amongst the list of jobs that are in huge demand across UK. Apart from skilled chefs, UK wants more of

• Medical Consultants and specialist nurses
• Engineering jobs including chemical and civil engineers
• Quantity surveyors
• Maths and English teachers
• Ship and hovercraft officers
• Veterinary surgeons
• Sheep shearers
• Jockeys and horse trainers

This list hugely disappoints the Indians who majorly fit into two job categories, doctors or IT professional. The Migration Advisory Committee (MAC) has suggested that doctors from outside Europe will no longer be able to work in Britain as salaried General Physicians (GP), under the new rules. It also suggested that there should be a cap on IT specialists and architects, oops, this will not go down well people apply for the Highly Skilled Migrant Visa reincarnated as Tier-1 Points Based System.
