The above title might sound as some daily soap serial but this is a real story of Shilpi, resident of Adarsh Nagar, New Delhi who offered Rs 50 Lakhs contract (Indian Rupees 5 million) to kill her in-laws. Her luck went dry when the person she chose, the driver of her in-laws weighed his loyalty towards his master more than money. She is arrested by the police for conspiracy and sent to judicial custody for 14 days.
As per reports from media and television, Shilpi married mentally ill Kapil Goel, son of Col (retd) Rajeev Goel about 4 months ago. Everyone were surprised what was the motive behind the marriage, but it did not took long for everyone to understand that it was her intentions to get all the wealth of Mr. Goel. Her plan started with getting someone who can kill her in laws so that she can get all the property (as her husband was mentally ill) and also the insurance money. She took Ashok Kumar, the driver into confidence and offered him Rs. 50 lakhs to kill her in laws. She even paid Rs. 15000 as advance and rest on completion of the work.
Police sources said Ashok had been working for the Goels for the last several years. He first agreed to Shilpi’s proposal as he found the lure of Rs 50 lakh too difficult to resist. However, later he reportedly underwent a change of heart and told the Goels about Shilpi’s plans. To prove that he was not lying, Ashok went on to collect “evidence” and recorded his conversations with Shilpi on his mobile phone. He also prepared a video clip of their conversations in the car after installing a camera in it.
Col Goel produced the audio and video clips before the police and got Shilpi, her mother Krishna and brother Sachin arrested for conspiring to murder him.
Shilpi, her mother and brother had asked Ashok to run over Goel with the car so that after his death they could get their hands on his property, but Ashok proved to be the weak link and got them caught, said the SHO of Palam Vihar.
Shilpi on the other hand claims that she is innocent and this is dowry harassment case, a perfect self defense option. However, police will continue to verify the recorded tape and might give the final verdict. Perfect drama plot for Saas, Bahu and Saazish show! We will wait and watch how law deals with this case.
