13th September 2008 – Five Blasts rocks ‘the national Capital of India’. Bombs were planted in the dustbins, more than 30 dead, 100s injured. However these numbers would have been more had not four brave policemen risked their own life to detect and defuse bomb at another crowded area. Constable Suresh Kumar was among four policemen who detected and defused a live bomb at the Regal Building in Connaught Place showing exemplary presence of mind and courage.
Assistant sub-inspector Mahendra Singh, head constable P.N. Subhash and Constables Suresh Kumar and Praveen Sharma swung into action to search the central business district of the national capital within minutes of the blasts in the Central Park in Connaught Place. ‘We immediately searched the two dustbins (one blue and one green) kept on the left side of the hall… and then we searched the dustbins on the right side. There we recovered a bomb from the green dustbin,’ Praveen Sharma said!
However, it was Suresh Kumar who without any second thought immediately pulled out the wires thus breaking the circuit of the bomb and defusing it. It was later learned that this bomb was the most powerful amongst all that were planted. At any time of the day, several hundred people can be found in the Regal Building area. And had this sixth explosion happened, many innocent lives would have been lost!
Praveen had joined Delhi police six years ago while Suresh Kumar joined Delhi police in 1994.
There has been no reports of any awards to these policeman by the Police headquarters, but was just pondering where are the chief ministers of different states, who took no chance to announce big FAT cash to all cricketers who won the T-20 World Championship. Probably because the cricketers are “Desh ki Dhadkan” and these unsung heroes not!
We at ZorSeBol salute Praveen and Suresh Kumar for their selfless and brave act.
Well Done!!! Bravo!!!! However, lets not forget the contribution of the ragpickers who informed the police about the two bombs… well done guys… these are the kind of people we need,,, with eyes and ears open… also thanks Delhi for helping the injured… no one ran away, people came forward to help the injured!!!! But yes, we need to have a central agency only dealing with information on possible terrorist threats… it requires a wide range of activities.. hence a specialised task… its time we accept that India is under terror threat for real… all the best India…
Shivraj Patil, our Homne Minister, was busy changing dresses when the bo,b blast happened (as shown on Star Plus TV). what do u have to say to that? HE should have immediately rushed to the site or hospital rather than changing dresses and making statements.
Also he said he had a information of possible attacks on Delhi but no idea of time and place. SIR, will the terrorist tell you that as well? What kind of statement is that? These statements show your complete incapabilities to handle terror and we have to suffer. Sir, we cant say much, but its SHAME
