Raj Thackeray and his band of brothers aka Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) has shot into limelight once again by threatening Mumbai Shopkeepers to put up Marathi Signboards outside their shops by Thursday, 28th August, else, face the wrath of his super-heroes who know nothing but to bang up innocent people and destroy public properties. Mr. Thackeray has also warned the police to think twice before shooing off his workers when they are performing this despicable act, wow Mr. Thackeray, maan gaye boss apko!! You have got some guts but for all the wrong reasons. It seems that this is the only way for you to gain few political brownies.

Mr Thackeray better described as ‘the self proclaimed torch bearer of Maratha Pride’, I respect your cause – to restore Maratha pride in Maharashtra and stop the erosion of Marathi language and its culture amongst the people of the state, but beating people out of their homes, damaging property and treating fellow citizens as outsiders does not show Maratha pride in good light. Every now and then, you feel you have lost the media space, you come up with one of your tricks so that you never lose focus, I’m sure you will intensify your stir as the assembly elections comes closer, after all that’s where your ultimate goals lie, so it comes as no surprise when you said ‘A misconception has been spread that the MNS is raising the issue of Marathi signboards for electoral gains. Our agitation is for Marathi pride and we are ready to keep away from elections if needed‘. That’s a big IF you added towards the end. And come to think of it, if seat of power was not on your mind you would have formed an NGO/social organization dedicated towards the cause of Maratha pride rather than forming a political outfit.

We all know that Mumbai is over-populated, hundreds of families descend on this city everyday, its no surprise that it adds to the already crumbling infrastructure of this city, but there are government policies which can be implemented to deter people from coming to this city. Rather than proposing laws and frameworks which lie within the constitutional domain, you resort to reckless violence which at times shows your political naiveté.

Mumbai is the lifeline of our country and the very genesis of Mumbai’s vibrant lifestyle is amalgamation of various culture, people of different caste and creed co-existing peacefully with each other; Please, for the Navnirman of your political fortune, do not disturb the basic sanctity of this great city.
