Maharashtra Industry Minister Ashok Chavan will be the new state Chief Minister to succeed Vilasrao Deshmukh, who resigned after the Mumbai attacks taking moral responsibility of not providing enough security measures to the mumbaikars! However the news did not please Narayan Rane who was also one of the contender for the post.

Narayan Rane seems to have questioned the election process that was carried out Congress President Sonia Gandhi, senior leader Pranab Mukherjee and Vilasrao Deshmukh.

The nomination of 50-year-old Chavan, the son of late S B Chavan, as leader of the Congress Legislature Party by Congress President Sonia Gandhi was announced by senior leader Pranab Mukherjee on Friday evening, shortly after another contender Narayan Rane hit out at Gandhi, Deshmukh and Chavan and questioned the process of election of the new leader. Rane left Shiv Sena and joined Congress few years ago.

Addressing press Rane said “I don’t trust even Sonia Gandhi anymore.” And when the press asked if he was leaving Congress, Rane said, “I will do that at an appropriate time.”

“Ashok Chavan cannot even handle his own ministry and cannot be my competitor for the CM’s post,” he said.

Rane accused Deshmukh, MPCC chief Manikrao Thakre, MRCC chief Kripashankar Singh and “a union minister” of being behind the bid to stop him from becoming the chief minister.

“There is a conspiracy. I will reveal it at an appropriate time,” Rane said.

Chavan represents Mudkhed constituency in the Assembly. He was a Member of Parliament for two years from 1987-89 and was elected to the Assembly from 1999. Names of union ministers Sushil Kumar Shinde and Prithviraj Chavan had also done the rounds as chief ministerial contenders.

Gandhi was authorised by the state Congress Legislature Party yesterday to chose the new leader after the MLAs and MLCs failed to arrive at a consensus before the party observers Mukherjee and A K Antony.

So the politics over the 183 death people have started? Politics over death of 20 brave soldiers has started. Shameless Rane has no concerns over the attack, but more concern about the Chief Minister Chair. How low can the politicians go low? While the whole country is still in state of shock over the Mumbai attack, these cheapsters are fighting for the CHAIR! God save our country!
