The global economic downturn may have hit millions across the world, but it seems to be an inspiration for comedian Jaspal Bhatti who has floated ‘the Recession Party’.
“We have been hearing this word (recession) every now and then. We also face paucity of funds, so this was the ideal name for the party,” Bhatti told reporters here.
Bhatti claimed that the new outfit does not have funds as “deposit money required for filing papers” and that it is banking on fans and investors for help.
Bhatti and his party will focus on all current issues, including reservation, slums and security.
“We will not divide people on the lines of caste, creed and religion but on the basis of fools and wise. We would also reserve 50 per cent seats for fools in Parliament if voted to power,” Bhatti claimed.
The party members think slums are the country’s ‘heritage’ and would work towards creating more slums to “strengthen vote banks and win more Oscars”, he said, alluding to depiction of slums in Oscar-winner ‘Slumdog Millionaire.’
