Harbhajan Singh has been more in news for all the wrong reasons than the right ones especially those related to cricket . Whether it’s the ramp walk with his hair down or featuring in a liquor advertisement – both prohibited by his religion, on and off field spat with Australians Andrew Symonds and Mathew Hayden or slapping fellow cricketer S. Sreesanth in full public view, Harbhajan has always ensured that he gets some piece of headline, the latest goof-up to add to his long list of controversies was impersonating as a ‘Ravana’ in a popular Comedy Show.

Harbhajan Singh’s ‘Ravana act’ in a TV dance reality show has caused severe resentment among Sikh & VHP outfits who have filed a complaint in a local court here against the cricketer

Jathedar Akal Takht (the highest Sikh Temporal seat), Gyani Gurbachan Singh, has expressed shock over the behaviour of Sikh cricketer Harbhajan Singh, who took part in a dance competition on TV with actress Mona Singh wearing ‘Tilak’ and dressed as Ravana. The Jathedar said the incident, which was reported by a section of the media, has caused outburst among the Sikh community and has sought apology from the off-spinner. Gurbachan said that being a Sikh, it was highly objectionable of Harbhajan to wear ‘Tilak’ and act as Ravana and dance publicly, and that these things would never be tolerated. Gurbachan also said the incident would be probed though none has so far lodged complaint with the Akal Takht.

“If somebody files a complaint, suitable action against the cricketer could be initiated irrespective of the fact that he is not a baptised Sikh,” the Jathedar said. Gurbachan said that Harbhajan should apologise to sooth public sentiments and in future should take care of the tenets of the Sikh Community. “At the international level, everybody knows Harbhajan as a Sikh and whatever he does reflects on our community,” he said.

“This act is shameful. How can Sita be shown dancing with an evil like Ravana? This is carrying things a little too far. Both celebrities should come on TV with a garland of shoes around their necks to apologise for this,” Vishwa Hindu Parishad leader Vijay Bhardwaj said here.

Harbhajan, our advice, stop being in news for the wrong reasons… its high time you better concentrate on your sagging cricketing career and get media attention for all the right reasons
