A local Newspaper unearthed sex scandal by the 48-year-old minister is close to Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa. Halappa is reportedly had raped his friend’s wife, a mother of two, in Shimoga five months ago.

Halappa had convened a press conference and announced his resignation. He attributed the turn of events to a political conspiracy.

The story, as told by a source: Halappa had visited the house of his friend Venkatesh, a financier, in Shimoga on the night of November 26 last year for dinner. He sent away his driver and other staff to the government guest house and stayed overnight there. In the wee hours he complained of uneasiness and asked Venkatesh to fetch him some pills from his car parked at the guest house.

By the time Venkatesh returned, Halappa was reportedly seen consoling his wife. As Venkatesh pulled out his mobile and started clicking, the minister pulled his pants up and ran away. The images show a semi-nude Halappa with Venkatesh’s wife in the background. In another picture, the woman is seen crying, holding her sari. In a third picture, the minister is attempting to block the camera. The images, however, do not convey if it was forced or consensual sex.

Following this, the minister reportedly threatened Venkatesh not to talk about it. But the family has reportedly preserved the minister’s dhoti and the woman’s nightie; these may be used as evidence in the case.
