Gone are the days when marriage was considered as bondage for 7 lives. In one life, people cannot safeguard their marriage today. Murdering seems to be a child’s play! Earlier people used to shudder hearing this word but today, especially the techies (supposed to be the most literate & earning people in society) do it at the snap of their fingers.
Manoj Kumar, a Dell Employee, was arrested on November 14th after he was proved of murdering his wife in cold blood. And what more, Manoj used all the good tactics of a professional killer to hide his crime only to be trapped by an unusual set of evidence. His strands of hair in his late wife’s finger nails nailed his fate!
As per the media reports, Manoj Kumar had an affair before marriage with a divorcee, Anuradha. He was forced to marry Lakshmi due to parents pressure. He continued his relationship with Anuradha even after marriage and was waiting for an opportunity to get rid of his wife and marry Anuradha.
The opportunity came when Lakshmi, Manoj’s wife applied 3 days of sick leave from her office. Lakshmi was working as systems head for IBM. Manoj had been for work on 7th November but came back in the noon. Lakshmi was cooking at the kitchen. As planned, he put a handful of chilly powder on her face. She went to wash her face in bathroom and he went behind her and hit her with an iron rod repeatedly until she collapsed on floor. He then checked her heartbeat and when he found that it was still running, the heartless monster strangled her neck until she wilted in pain and breathed her last.
To escape from all this, he had used gloves all the while so that there could be no finger prints to trace. He also ransacked the house including his wife’s mangalsutra, bangles, wallet & mobile phone. This was to give an impression for police that the motive behind this murder was burglary.
How he got caught ultimately is the most interesting part of news:
Forensic experts of course could not find any fingerprints. But they found some strands of hair from Lakshmi’s nails. It was then proved that they were Manoj’s hair. When Police inquired further they found that Manoj went from work at the noon on 7th November and did not come back. When Manoj was pestered by Police, he blurted out the truth. He confessed that he killed his wife brutally and also showed them the place where he had his his wife’s things and money.
Big Question though: Is taking someone’s life so easy? Techies, who are considered to be the most literate and intellectual keep coming into news for all bad reasons. Is it the boredom at work, the stress or the long working hours which is taking the toll. Extra Marital Affairs constitute one of the main reason for such incidents. Probably over the period of time, some techies enjoy their second life at workplace more than that at house and there by giving enough reasons for marital problems. Recent case of Amith Budhiraj & Rinku Sachdev’s (extra marital affairs) death is a perfect example in this regard!
Hope a strong case and a signal from the law authorities should be passed so that techies or anyone in this regard should think twice before committing such crimes.
Tremendous issues here. I’m very happy to look your article. Thanks so much and I am having a look ahead to touch you. Will you kindly drop me a mail?
Extra marital affairs is a problem, more so in North India as the root cause being "aping" the western culture, even though physically free from colonial rule but still mentally slave( Gulam) even after 60yrs of freedom. Still White skin ( Gori Chamdi) matters. Tabiyat pattli ho jati Goron ke saamne. Azaad desh ke Gulam.
