On October 1 Rayadurgam Srikanth a student of Masters in Hotel Management went missing in New Zealand-Auckland. Parents of Rayadurgam Srikanth state that Srikanth went missing after drawing some money at 2.17 pm local time on October 1 withdrawing $250 (New Zealand dollars) from the National Bank ATM in Queen Street, about two hours after he left his home in Mt Albert to go to the university.
Srikanth was staying at his sister’s home and his wallet has been found near the harbour. Divers searched Auckland’s Waitemata Harbour near Westhaven Marina for the body of Srikanth Rayadurgam suspecting his death. According to local police, Srikanth’s bank accounts and mobile phone had not been used since he vanished and his wallet was empty except for $10, which would not have been seen by someone rifling through it. Local newspapers quoted detective Sergeant Joe Aumua from Avondale police as saying that Rayadurgam had no apparent enemies and was not depressed or suicidal. “As far as we know he was just a happy-go-lucky guy who really had no issues. It’s a mystery. Srikanth’s family lives at Mettuguda and he had gone to New Zealand in February this year to pursue hotel management course at AUT. Rayadurgam Srikanth’s parents are worried and they suspect that he might have been a victim of racism. Let’s hope the police solve this missing mystery soon.
