Abhinav Bindra received a very warm and grand welcome when he arrived home earlier today at 1 AM in the morning. He was received by his family members, friends, supports, sport authorities and huge fans, who waited patiently for his arrival at Indira Gandhi International Airport, New Delhi. Abhinav Bindra quenched the thirst of India’s Gold Medal at the Olympics by winning 10 m rifle event at Beijing Olympics. He came out of the terminal holding his medal.

Abhinav is scheduled to meet President Prathibha Patil and Prime Minsiter Mr Manmohan Singh later today. On this invitation Bindra says he feels honoured. Well, Bindra, we are honoured by your performance and the glory you brought for India.

There are reports that Abhinav might quit shooting and join his family business, but that’s just a speculation now. Abhinav says it’s too early for him to comment on that now. We will leave Bindra to enjoy this moment of glory and wait for many more glories to come in the near future.

Just important to add, we should give similar welcome to Saina Nehwal for her brilliant performance. Even though she could not earn a medal, but her feats at the Beijing Olympics cannot be under estimated. This is the first time anyone from India could reach the quarter finals in the Badminton event at Olympics. She failed after a long battle and probably the more mature Indonesian Yulianti won the battle of nerves. We need to welcome her with smile, honour her for her effort and keep her focused for 2012 London Olympics Games. Sport authorities should take special care of career now as she can bring many glories in the years to come.

Bindra and Nehwal, we salute you for your feats at Beijing Olympics.
