The New Moral policeman (Pramod Muthalik – founder of the Shri Ram Sene) was recently asked on his stance towards Valentine Day Celebrations by which he quickly respond saying – We will not allow Valentine’s Day celebration as it is not part of our culture. We will take the help of the police and college students to ensure that nobody celebrates Valentine’s Day.

Pramod Muthalik is the founder of the Shri Ram Sene whose activists attacked a pub in Mangalore and assaulted a group of women on January 24.

Asked on why does he have a problem with people who want to have some fun in a pub? He replies – “As I mentioned earlier, pub culture is not Indian and we do not need to ape the West.” Girls are resorting to all sorts of rubbish due to lack of guidance. We will continue to raise our voice and will also take the help of law enforcement agencies to ensure that students do not tread the wrong path.

Every individual has to decide what is right or wrong for him. Muthalik is neither GURU, nor Parents nor a Moral Police ( appointed by Govt of India) to interfere and oppose his whims and fancies on to the public. If he says, he would stop Valentine’s Day, celebrations, public should show that he can do so to glorify himself for some political gains. This is nothing but violation of human rights and Hooliganism by Mr Muthalik and his followers.

And if at all this is not legal and they want to do Moral Policing, let it be enforced as a law and then let law take its own course of action. We also do not want to comment as even though we Zor se Bol on this issue, it will hardly make any difference to Muthalik and his Sena. But here are some facts, which Mr. Muthalik should know:

  • During Indus Valley Civilization, Sura (alcohol drink) was enjoyed by all – men, women. There was no gender bias!
  • The girls during those time wore dress that was knee height or lower, which is equivalent to mini skirts. With lipsticks and make-up stuff found, it was evident that the girls enjoyed grooming them up (What does BJP vice-president Naqvi has to say on this?)
  • Dancing was one of the common feature and was evident from pictures on the caves of the Indus Valley Region.
  • However, things did change a lot after that and then came the purdah system, child marriage, sati etc. Does this mean, we should bring back these evils of our culture and not embrace new changes, which benefits the society.
  • Why is drinking for women wrong? Do they hit their male partner after drink, which happens in many cases in India (dun ask for facts, com on lets admit it). Shouldn’t local bars be closed if morality is the case?
  • And finally, if Government is so helpless to deal, let the common people know what are the restrictions we need to follow rather than getting blows and hits from these parties, who haven’t contributed anything towards growth of India, but want to come in the limelight with the cheap tactics. Our questions are:
    • Are we girls allowed to drink?
    • If I am South Indian Girl, am I allowed to live in any part of India without fear from any political party?
    • Can I convert or practice any religion I want?
    • Is holding my Boyfriend’s hand in the public an issue?
    • Can I hug my Husband in the public?
    • Will I as a girl get equal status in my society?
    • Will the rapists and eve teasers get more sever punishment so that there is a fear in the society about crime against women?

To conclude, there are many pressing issues that Government and People have to deal with! Do not bring in your dirty politics and miuse in the name of Indian Culture. Indian Culture is vast and varied and has absorbed many cultures and practices. Yes, if there is something, which is immoral, let it go through a proper channel and be enforced a law. No one has right to take law in their own hand!
