Another case of dowry harassment is reported from New Delhi, where a pregnant woman was beaten by her in laws and husband as she could not bring more money to her husband house. As per the pictures shown on the television, her face was badly bruised and the girl was constantly crying. And worse she was pregnant and was hit on her stomach.

The woman in question is Pawandeep, who was married to Sandeep Singh from Pitampura, New Delhi on June 29 2008. As per Pawandeep, since the day she was married she was harassed by her in laws for not bringing enough dowry. Sandeep Singh was furious about the fact that he demanded Honda Accord Car and he was given only Honda City Car. Further the family wanted Silver utensils. And when Pawadeep was not able to meet their demands, they started beating her black and blue and that’s where she reported the matter to her family.

The family of Pawandeep has vowed that they will ensure that Sandeep Singh and his family get severe punishment for barbaric act. Beating a pregnant woman and that too your own wife, your own daughter-in-law is nothing less than Shame and the culprits should be punished.

Police were reluctant to register a case whoever with the intervention of media and news channel, the police registered FIR and husband Sandeep Singh is detained.

If Sandeep Singh and his family are found guilty, they should be really given the most severe punishment so that others learn a lesson.

Further, let me further say this - The parents of Pawandeep are to be blamed as well. Why on first place did they agree to such guy who demands car and other gifts? Was your girl less educated or a burden that you had to give money to get her married?

To all parents - If you pay once, you have to pay always and if you cannot meet their demands the girl is bound to suffer and sometimes might be fatal. Remember you have spent the same amount of money in bringing your child and she will continue to serve her in laws apart from doing job. Paying a single penny as so called gifts or demands is WRONG, is an offence. Do not support dowry, bring the culprits in the limelight so that they feel ashamed of their fact! Stop dowry, stop trading marriages!

Really feeling sad for Pawandeep, I have seen her interview on Star News on 2nd Oct 08. She was weeping and was in shock trauma. Her hasband should be strictly penalised for shwoing such greediness as he is very rich and wants to make more through dowary.

Hi my name is Kavitha, working for an MNC company in Bangalore. Got married on 9th June 08 within in a week i was asked to get 1 lakh. I was there for 20days trying to over come the situation later it went to 5 lakhs. i stayed only for 24 days in my in laws place. Left my husband and slapped my father in law nd came back to my mom’s place and applying for a divorce. I can leave with a poor but not with a person who is greedy and listen to his parents words than his common sense. It was not easy to think about divorce in 24days but gave 2 months time but then no response from my husband’s side. Now i have decided and looking forward for a divorce.

I hope i took a right decision. Suggest me.

Sorry to hear what happened. Do you have any proof that your husband or your in-laws have asked for any kind of money? If yes, your divorce ground becomes very strong and your in laws & husband will be held for illegal demands.

Divorce is not the solution and I would still suggest to patch up with your husband. Try and explain to your husband that dowry/demanding money wont help in the long run and can just ruin the relationship. I guess you are working? And perhaps you can earn more if money is the need.

I hope all settles well and you have a good married life. If your husband is adamant and does not want to compromise, make sure you record the demands as that can help you file good case against them.

Sorry to hear about your case. You don’t deserve greedy people as your partners. Get Divorce and live happily after that.

I can understand your situation well because my wife for 8 years has filed a false 498a case and demanding huge monies from me and my family to lift the false 498a against my whole family (my grandmother aged 75, my parents aged 60 & 55 and my sister). This 498a is being misued heavily by modren woman and I hope you don’t follow that suit.

You better die than pay money to the person who wants your family suffer. You are better off to be single and lead a happy life. All the best.
