Ranjitha, the Tamil actress seen in the sex tape of Swami Nithyananda, reportedly attempted suicide.

Sources in Tamil Nadu have revealed that Ranjitha tried to kill herself over the sex scandal, which has snowballed into a major controversy with all the national media attention. The actress, who has also acted in Telugu movies such as ‘Maavichiguru’ and ‘Sriramulayya’, was married to a army man. She is now a divorcee.

Meanwhile, Nityananda Swami, who is at the center of a controversy after his alleged sleazy acts was telecast on TV channels, on Sunday claimed that he had not done anything illegal and against law.

“Neither the ashram nor I did anything that is against the law. We will find out the truth and will come back to you very soon. Till then please be patient,” he said in a video clip. The CD of him speaking before a camera was sent through his lawyer and circulated to select media.

More trouble is awaiting for self-styled godman Swami Nithyanand with the Karnataka government ordering a probe into the land held by him at Bidadi, 40 km away from Bangalore. Home Minister of Karnataka Dr V S Acharya announced on the floor of the Karnataka Legislative Assembly that the land on which the ashram stands is basically government land and hence a probe must be ordered into it.
