2011 is gone burger (well, nearly) and in the celluloid world that can mean only one thing – a reflection back over the best, and worst, of the year.
As 2011 winds down, one cannot but recall the many hard-hitting and controversial headlines over the year. People and events, from all across the world, have made big news for different reasons, a year to remember.

Shahrukh Khan didn’t leave a single stone unturned for the promotion of his film Ra.One. So whether it was Delhi Metro or F1 race King Khan took his Ra.One to every possible place for the promotions. Ra.One had premieres in Dubai, London and Toronto. The film released across 3,100 screens in India and 904 prints overseas in both 2D and 3D, and was also dubbed in Tamil and Telugu, making it the largest Indian cinematic release in the world. Ra.One was the second-most expensive film ever produced in Indian cinema, following Rajinikanth’s Robot (2010). In addition, an estimated Rs 52 crore (US$9.88 million) was spent on marketing through various partnerships, which set the record for the largest marketing budget in India. The year-end also belongs to Shahrukh as his much-anticipated Don 2 is releasing on December 23.
