Marilyn Monroe has been a fascination with people of all age-groups even though she died in 1961. She met death at the age of only 36.
After a period of fifty years following her death, a series of the yesteryear actress’ intimate pictures, not seen previously, has seen the light of the day. The photographs show Marilyn Monroe at rest and relaxation.
The clandestine images show her lying back in grass and reading a script peacefully. In some candid images, she is shown to have covered her face partly with a makeup mirror. The pictures form part of an album, named “Marilyn”. Eve Arnold an American photojournalist had captured Monroe in her camera when the star’s fame was at its height in the 1950s and 60s.
Throwing light on her collection of Monroe’s pictures, the photojournalist who is now 98 says that Marilyn Monroe had taken a fancy to her pictures. She felt that my pictures with a fresh approach could present her in a different way from she used to be pictured in Hollywood.
Eve Arnold had clicked only eight pictures of Monroe in apparently careless moments, during the shooting of her last film, The Misfits in 1960. Only 495 pictures from the album have been published. They are now on display at galleries across the nation.
