Actress Michelle Williams has been roped in to play Marilyn Monroe in an upcoming film, claims some reports from Hollywood.
According to the producers of the project titled “My Week with Marilyn”, Michelle Williams had to undergo a complete makeover to achieve the cropped blonde hair, the red lips and the sultry appearance which characterized Marilyn Monroe over her years as a Hollywood actress. The storyline of “My Week With Marilyn” centers around the filming of the 1956 Marilyn Monroe and Sir Laurence Olivier film “The Prince and the Showgirl”.
Michelle Williams will reportedly have to work with mostly a British cast and crew and most of the shooting will take place in London, confirmed the producers. The film speaks about a week in the life of Marilyn Monroe, when she escapes the harsh spotlights of Hollywood to enjoy the pleasures of 1950s Britain. Actors Kenneth Branagh as Laurence Olivier, Julia Ormond and Judi Dench accompany Michelle Williams as part of the cast of “My Week With Marilyn”.
Marilyn Monroe is undoubtedly one of the most popular actresses in Hollywood even 40 years after her death and filmmakers have tried hard time and again to recreate her enthralling presence in front of the camera. Michelle Williams is the second actress in contemporary times to play Monroe onscreen, the first being Naomi Watts who portrays Monroe in “Blonde”, a fictional biography of the star. “My Week With Marilyn” is to be directed by Simon Curtis.
