Kate Perry, who split with British comedian Russell Brand named Billboard’s Woman of the Year on Tuesday.

Billboard’s editorial director Bill Werde said in a statement that Perry was chosen for her achievements in the past 12 months, calling her one of the most exciting and inspiring artists in the industry.

This year’s event will take place in New York City on November 30 where Katy will receive her award.
