The sultry British actress Gemma Arterton is all set to play the lead role in the movie “Tamara Drewe”. The 24-year-old actress said that she cannot identify with the character of Tamara Drewe in the upcoming movie. The movie is about a journalist who is forced to return to her hometown in England after her mother’s demise, since she is ‘Lost’.
Speaking at the red carpet premieres of the movie at London’s Odeon cinema, Leicester Square, Gemma said that initially she did not want to play the role because she did not like Tamara’s character. Gemma explained that although Tamara is a femme-fatale, she is lost and clueless about her own self. The actor said that she knows quite a few women who are totally lost like Tamara but she cannot identify with the character.
The actor further added that she enjoys working on characters that she does not understand because it requires her to delve deeper into the subject and think like them. On the other hand, director Stephen Frears said that he liked working on the project because it has a nice touch of humor and a lot of sex in it. The movie ‘Tamara Drewe’ will be released worldwide through September and October 2010.
