Actress Amy Smart has announced her engagement to boyfriend Carter Oosterhouse.

Smart told US magazine that the news was “very new” and “very exciting”. The couple have had somewhat of a whirlwind romance after meeting in November 2010 at a green charity event.

“They are perfect for each other. Here are two wholesome, kind, sweet Midwestern types. Neither has sold out and gone Hollywood,” contactmusic.com quoted a source as saying.

The 35-year-old was photographed wearing her impressive engagement ring following the announcement, at the Earth Day Body Shop event in NYC.
