Producer Vidhu Vinod Chopra asked a reporter to shut up after being questioned whether his hit “3 Idiots” was lifted from author Chetan Bhagat’s book “Five Point Someone”. Director Raju Hirani also left his Gandhiri behind and explained that the story is original and has only 2-5% similarity!
Aamir Khan also slammed Chetan Bhagat saying Chetan is hungry for publicity and want to cash on the success of “3 idiots”.
During one of the press conference a reporter queried the “3 idiots” team if the movie is a “lift” from Chetan Bhagat’s book “Five Point Someone”. On that Mr Chopra asked if the reporter saw the movie and read the book?
Chopra who got up angrily and shouted: “Then you shut up. When you have not read the book, then how can you say that the movie is 70 percent of the book?”.
“All is not well” with the movie in terms of copyright, but the movie is doing quite well in terms of box office. Even Chetan Bhagat reportedly told the media that the movie is quite good and well executed, something which he wanted to portray in his book!
But here is a catch. Chetan writes in his blog saying he wont say anything and asked everyone to read the book and watch the movie to decide. Isn’t that a clever way of promoting both Book and Movie
