Student of the YearKaran Johar’s film ‘Student of the Year’, has been inspired by the popular TV series Glee. It is an American TV show which is based on music and is a huge hit around the globe. Karan is directing his first film with newcomers.

Naturally there is excitement about the project, which promises to be different from his other films that have been big star studded affairs.

Reportedly, Karan Johar’s ‘Student Of The Year’ is set on the lines of the show with the theme of music at its background and the main characters also modelled in a similar fashion. Shah Rukh could be the Indian Will Schuester, played by Matthew Morrison, who plays the music teacher in the original series.

Kajol making a guest appearance in the film is being likened to the celebrity guest appearances of the likes of Britney Spears and Gwyneth Paltrow in the TV show. Newcomers Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan and Siddharth Malhotra will have a love triangle which is a basic part of ‘Glee’. Besides, several song and dance sequences and a love-triangle also makes for important aspects in ‘Student of the Year’.

Both ‘Glee’ and ‘Student Of The Year’ are set in a high school. In addition, the film will be high on song and dance numbers like most Karan Johar films. This is also one of the main components of ‘Glee’. Though the film appears to have many similarities, we’re sure Karan will bring out certain fresh and original elements to it.
