Katrina KaifDibakar Banerjee wanted Katrina to act in Shanghai along with Abhay Deol and Emraan Hashmi, and the actress too showed keen interest but she turned it down.

Reason? She preferred acting with Imran Khan in a romantic comedy to acting with Emraan Hashmi in a political thriller.

She just lost a great chance! It could have been the role of a life time for Katrina Kaif. She was the one whom the talented director Dibakar Banerjee wanted to cast in his next film Shanghai.

Apparently Dibakar Banerjee has looked at every possible actress, even the likes of Salma Hayek and Barbara Mori, who could possibly fit the bill.

Dibakar said that he has been desperately looking for a half-Caucasian half-Indian to play the female lead role in Shanghai. He added that Katrina was ideal for the role but she had other career plan. He is planning to start shooting the film in April but not before finding a suitable girl.

Shanghai will be shot in a small, dusty town of Maharashtra from April.
